How bad is putting gasoline in the oil tank?
I accidentally put the gas in that red container into the oil tank of my moped.
it’s a honda vespa and i’m still learning how to use it. i thought that since gas has oil in it that the thing labeled “oil” meant for gas but now i’m worried that it might hurt the moped. Is it bad? Is there any easy way to fix it? Because I just got it serviced already… please help!
Don’t start it that way, drain all the oil out and replace it with the proper oil.
If you have not started the engine no harm has been done
…………..
gasoline does have a small percentage of oil in it, but it is not good for you to use it for the purposes that you are trying to achieve. at this very moment it isnt hurting it, but i do reccomend that you change asap. if ran for to long with the gasoline in the oil pan the engine wont be getting the lubrication that it needs to run properly meaning that it WILL heat up and if the gasoline does get to hot it will combust causing some bad, bad issues im sure you can understand what might happen.
…………….
Well, i would imagine it wouldn’t be a good scenario, since oil is used to lubricate the engine’s components, and gasoline doesn’t have the same properties.
Looks like your best bet would be to get it serviced again.
……………
oil is NOT gasoline.
Gasoline does not lubricate.

Get it flushed out and replace the oil - NOW.
